Kirby's Dream World has Returned!

It's been a long wait, but finally after nearly two years of being offline, Kirby's Dream World has returned! Originally opening back in 2006 on June 7th, KDW was the world's first (and only) fan made online virtual Kirby community. We originally got our start on the Official Nintendo Nsider forums in a Kirby topic which contained only a download link and a few screen shots, but as time went on to become something so much more. Those who originally saw the project at Nsider soon found themselves pouring their heart and soul into the project, and before we knew it KDW became what you see today.

Over the years many people have helped create this world. As a virtual fan community, each person was given the ability to shape the world's future in some way or another. Some became full on admins, developers, and mappers, while others contributed their own resources and helped shape it with their own actions. While not everyone stayed with KDW, each person did leave their mark, and we are where we are today because of them. Back when we first started it, we really never expected KDW to become much. It was just a simple small scale fan project. You guys proved our expectations wrong though, and because of that, all of us here at KDW will always be thankful. You are an amazing group, and we really couldn't have done any of this without you. You guys have helped change so many lives (including my own), and I will always treasure our memories together... But enough of that! It's time to finally return, for old time sake!

Download Kirby's Dream World Today!

From this point on you will once again be able to download Kirby's Dream World, and connect to it's online world. Simply click the download link to the right of the page, or click HERE for fast access. Once there simply click the download link, and right click and save the file to your computer. You can then follow the installation instructions provided on the download page, or found in KDW's folder. For those of you who still have a copy of Final mix 11.1, we are sorry to tell you that it will no longer work.

What's New!

Depending on when you last saw Kirby's Dream World, a lot has changed. We actually had some major updates right before we went offline, but with this release even more has changed. Below is a small list of some of the things you can expect to see when you log back in.

- Updated sprites. Once again thanks to Lugia, KDW has a new set of sprites for it's 9th Birthday. Of course not everything has changed, but a large selection of them have been redone from scratch. These sprites are replacing our 2010 update (which also greatly revamped the look of the game), and more updates will be made to them as time goes on.

- New tiles. Thanks to new additions to our tile sheets, we can do things we previously couldn't. While we cannot go into the specifics, you can expect to see KDW maps make use of these soon.

- New music. As always some new songs have been added to the game -- specifically for new areas.

- Bug Fixing. Over the past few weeks we have been testing quite a bit of KDW, and fixing smaller issues which may or may not have been ones you've personally experienced. Some of these issues include us adding music to areas that were previously missing music, spelling issues, issues with warps, issues with notification text not showing up, and we have fixed a good deal of the warp glitches you may have ran into as well (specifically the passage to Pie Town). Of course we will continue fixing bugs and glitches as they come up, so please make sure to report any you personally come across.

- A quick warp to the KDW archives has been added to the Hang-Out in honor of KDW turning 9. Typically one would enter this area by going to Legend's Cafe, but this warp makes it a lot faster. By stepping on the moving star in the Hang-Out, players will be sent to KDW as it was during the summer of 2006. While the entire world cannot be found in the archive, main areas such as Cappy Town, the fields, woods, and even beach is in fact included (yes the hidden Duck Town warp is still there as well). While this area is also used for a current in game quest, it is mostly an area just for fun, and we hope that you guys enjoy seeing it again. Even if it is poorly mapped with bad spelling, I'm sure a lot of you will feel nostalgia towards it. (Note: The in game graphics and sprites will still appear as modern KDW, only the maps will change.)

Closing

Well, that about does it! I'd like to thank you all again for everything you've done, and let you all know that I'm really looking forward to seeing you all. It's hard to believe it has been 9 years, but here we are. They say time flies when you're having fun, and I guess this just proves they were right. See you all again soon guys!
