KDW Continues on Windows 10!

We are happy to announce that our worse fears are no more. Kirby's Dream World has made the jump to Windows 10!

Honestly this is something we were unsure of since the announcement last year. KDW was created using VB6 which had it's last release in the late 90s. Due to this Windows XP was the last version to officially support it as they moved to .NET. So, what does this mean? Well, nothing for you. Microsoft has always had a "it just works" policy when it comes to VB6, and although Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 8.1 weren't made to support it, there were always ways to get programs made using it to run. Microsoft still hosts the Runtime Files, and there's a Windows fix out there (both of which are a part of KDW's setup). Although VB6 is technically "dead," it still managed to survive.

When Windows 10 was announced there was no hard evidence that this trend would continue. Windows 10 was released as the "final" version of Windows, with major updates being released for it, and there was really no way for us to tell how KDW would react to it until the final product was out. Well, it works.

If you have already installed KDW on either Windows 7 or 8/8.1 and you upgraded to Windows 10, then you are set. The files carried over, and KDW will work just fine. On the other hand if you're new to KDW, well, The Windows 8/8.1 guide will have you covered. Just run the Runtime Files as an admin and install the Windows Fix and you will be fine.

Well, that's it for now guys. Here's to another 10 years of Windows!
